Title: Fluval Edge 6 gallon tank
Post by: Jeff1192 on September 30, 2010, 02:15:31 PM
Anyone running one of these tanks. They are amazing looking little set ups. They are a bit pricey for the size but with their looks I think vie managed to convince my wife to let me set up a second tank if it's one of these. I think it would make an amazing nano planted tank with some cherry shrimp and a couple really small fish.

Great idea! We have been eyeing up these tanks for a little while now too. Very snazzy 8)
Post pics if you do get one going!  :)

I looked at them closely and I really like the design concept. Unfortunately the design execution is not as good as the concept itself. The filter intake tube is totally visible and it doesn't need to be...it would've been so easy to hide it behind an internal overflow wall incorporated into the design. At that price I want the design execution to a higher standard. I could DIY it and fix that flaw but it wouldn't be worth it to me. That being said they are a really beautiful idea.

I have one running since January and I'm quite happy with it.

The only thing I didn't like was the stock halogen bulbs so I upgraded to the LED bulbs suggested in this thread: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/planted-nano-tanks/95967-official-edge-thread.html (http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/planted-nano-tanks/95967-official-edge-thread.html). I've also added a CF bulb.

The filter intake tube might look quite noticeable in an empty display tank in the store, but when you have it fully aquascaped you won't notice it at all.

This is what the tank looks like:

That looks great. What do you have for stock in there?

I know it's an old thread, but I just saw my first Edge in a store window, and, man, it's pretty. Now I want one. The filter intake was hidden by an insert that also sported a couple of small planters in the same Zen inspired style.

Looking for info I happened upon this review: http://hubpages.com/hub/Setting-up-the-New-FLuval-Edge (http://hubpages.com/hub/Setting-up-the-New-FLuval-Edge)

I ended up getting one while Black Friday shopping in the States for only $99!  I'll be setting it up after Christmas. Can't wait to get it going. Trying to figure out my plan for it still. Going to be low light planted, but haven't really decided anything beyond that.

Nice setup, I really like what you've done with it.

Not sure how I missed this thread earlier but I saw these at La Niche today ,
they are definitely very nice tanks. I resisted checking them out closer
since I'd already spent way......too much :-[.
