Did a major clean up in the 90G (S/A build - tetras, corys, plecos and 4 guppies (my daughters idea)), trimmed a lot of plants and did a nice clean-up, and put on a new bottle of CO2. I thought I'd recalibrate the bubble count (dumb move) I started the re calibration and got called away. 20 minutes later the wife is yelling (actually she was screaming)!!!!!! Over 75 fish at the top gasping or lying on the bottom :( :( :( :( :(. the bubble counter was a stream , couldn't count the flow! Put in two airstones......... 10 miutes late, some recovery...... fingers crossed...body count in the morning.
.....Kicks self, numerous times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
That really blows. :(
Looks like "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" type of thing...
To those of you who read my post before Bruce edited it; I apologize for my original choice of words.
Final count, I hope, on losses; 29 fish, almost a 1/3 of the occupants :'(
1 dwarf BN Pleco - 1 Harlequin Pleco - 1 Angel - 2 Dwarf Cories - 2 other Cories - 1 Chain Loach - 1 Columbian Tetra - 3 Serpae Tetras - 5 Neon Tetras - 2 Black Neon Tetras - 4 Harlequin Tetras - 3 Bleeding Heart Tetras - 1 Red Pencilfish - 2 Black/Yellow Pencilfish
Unable to locate 6 Kuhli Loaches - 2 Albino sharks still swimming funny as well as the remaining Loaches (2 YOYO + 1 Chain) and several other Tetras
I don't want to stress the others any more for the time being, so I will wait a day or two to move wood and plants.
(edit 4:55 PM) found another neon, count goes to 30
I'm just about to get my hands on a PH controller today.
This story in just one more argument in favor of my investment - not that it will fix my mistakes, but at least it will inhibit a wife yelling at me ;)
I dearly hope your fish will make it through. This almost happened to me as well last time I replaced my CO2 bottle :-X
Keep us posted !
