Title: Cleaning filter socks?
Post by: HomerJ on March 13, 2011, 03:35:25 PM
How do you guys clean your filter socks?  Seems to me the washing machine would be the best option, but I am worried that the socks might absorb leftover soap or other bad things?

I do not put soap in the washer and let them dry on a mitten rack :) They sometimes need to be cleaned a couple times but its the easier way indeed. I do not machine dry them to prevent the plastic rims to wear too quickly.

I rinse the machine first
flip the socks
I rinse the socks as much i can too
in the machine once or twice in hot water
then you are good to go
(then my wife tells me to rinse the machine again LOL)

I turn them inside out as I take them from the system...

When I get a few, I run a no soap load to clean the washer, then a no soap load with the socks.  I do not use the dryer, but I do run an extra spin cycle.

Works well enuf.

I throw mine in the washer. Bleach and an extra rinse cycle. No problems yet.
