So I finally moved into my new place and transferred all my fish to my new 84 gallon tank.
The tank is an Osaka from fluval and I believe it is made for a planted setup. I currently have a variety of African cichlids in the tank and no plants at all.
The tank has been setup for 9 days now and already has a substantial amount of algae growing on the glass and I am wondering if the lighting is the cause? The lighting is what I got with the tank (two, 46 inch Glo Life-Glo 54 watt T5 HO).
Would changing the bulbs reduce the algae growth? The tank is not exposed to much direct sunlight and everything is the same as my old 55g except for the lights.
Do you recommend changing bulbs? Possible combo of some sort? I also noticed that 48 inches is also a lot more popular than 46 inch for bulb size, will I have a hard time getting one to fit?
Thanks for the help.
48'' bulbs = 54W are actually only 46'' long if that makes any sense lol, but anytime I buy a used fixture I always replace the bulbs
