Title: Chaeto Lighting
Post by: Malyon18 on May 02, 2011, 08:25:52 PM
I have been wanting to get the fuge section in my sump going for a little while now but have been stuck on which lighting to use, would love to see what fixtures and bulbs you guys are using to get your green stuff growing. Also should I be looking for a water/moisture resistant fixture or will one of them clip on desk lamps work and just clamp it on the side of my tank?

I use reptile fixtures that clip on and I just use a 23w 2700k bulb.

Yeah, petsmart has a couple of different types of reptile fixtures either clip on or hanging. I use a piece of glass over my fuge and put the light right on it.

My Maxspect is actually driving my Chaeto right now... ::)  haha.  Until I setup my 54G corner tank, it will stay there.

I run 2 x 15w screw in PC 6700k I bought a bunch when Super pet closed there is an old incandescent aquarium double socket fixture. When these are gone will just run the common PC screw in type. There is a cheap clip on shop light with a large aluminum reflector sold at CT and HD for under $10 I almost bought one of those. You can run a PC in it gives tons of light and cheap.
