Title: Input regarding lighting
Post by: woof99 on July 02, 2011, 09:30:37 PM
Hey guys,
I am setting up a 77gallon tank, looking for a 2nd light source that is not too costly.  Freshwater goldfish tank... very little plants.
Found this ad on ebay and was wondering... what would you say about this?  Pros and cons?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300564329773&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:CA:1123

It is Canadian and so no duty fees.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I would never buy an un-branded piece of electronics.  Especially not from some unknown guy off ebay.

Most people in this club, including myself, will strongly encourage to buy locally.  Support our sponsors and they will support you.  Our local fish stores carry good,  guaranteed products that lots of other members are using and can feedback on.  And also the local stores are accountable.  You get ripped off on ebay ? Too bad, your problem.  This will never happen at a local fish store.

Just my two cents.  It's probably obvious I'm not a typical ebay customer, I very rarely buy stuff there.

Now back to the real issue:  you want more light.
Why ?
What are you using right now ?
What are your plans for this tank ?

Last time I was at Ray's he had some fixtures similar to this and I think the pricing wasn't that bad either  (Was thinking for a Fuge).  This way if something goes wrong like Magnosis said, you have a local place to help.

Oops, not as cheap, sorry.
