Title: RO Unit at Home Depot
Post by: martin_jones on July 08, 2011, 03:12:35 PM
Saw this on Home Depot today, and was wondering how it compares to the ones aquarists use..

http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/HammerDropView?storeId=10051&catalogId=10051&langId=-15&eid=RSS

How do prices compare too?

Thanks

Martin

Hmm... Lacks DI, 24 GPD is pretty low, and I don't know that I trust a 5 micron carbon block to do a good enough job of getting rid of chloramine.

Better, cheaper systems are out there, IMO.

Most drinking RO units add stuff back into the water after it's been filtered to add taste into the water. You don't want this.
Pick up an actual aquarium one, it's worth it.

I paid that much for my Aquasafe RODI unit, and it came with 3 years of replacement filters.

I got mine direct from the Aquasafe guys in BC over eBay.  Saved over $100 compared to their website prices, even.
