Title: Cherry shrimp vent!
Post by: pm on January 18, 2012, 08:55:00 AM
Argh!

I keep finding small cherry shrimp alive and well in my canister filter.  I think Tom Barr calls them red cockroaches, and I am starting to believe him.  I have a fine sponge over my intake, so the only thing I can figure is that they climb in and down the outtake when the filter is off (during pruning), or they somehow make their way in the intake in the 20 seconds it takes me to switch sponges (again the filter is off).

On a funny note, the last time I have my filter off for an extended period of time (10-15 min), and turned it on again, shrimp started shooting out my spray bar like a machine gun.  It was an interesting sight!

My vent of the day.
