So I've had this pleco for quite a few years and never really could figure
out which type he was.
It was always hard to get a good pic of him, but last night he was very
cooperative.
Anybody like to hazard a guess? L170 maybe?

Sorry about the water marks, the photo shoot ::), was a rushed one.
Here is an L170, I think your right.

It's not an L170.
Looks like an Hypancistrus species.
Any chance you can post a bigger picture of the fish?
Where did you get it?
Okay yep didn't think it was going to be that easy.
He's not a very good subject for pictures, I'll try again If
he comes out. Tried zooming in on the existing pics and
all I managed to do is get a great look at the algae >:(.
:-[ Life has gotten in the way of my tank upkeep and it
really shows.
This pleco came from a fellow OVAS member who is not here anymore,
I'd like to say roughly 4 years ago.
There's chance it's a L134 with a close pattern line! Will help if you could post a better picture. Btw, do you still remember the price that you paid for it? That will help too! ;)
Mmm maybe L134 but don't think so, he's not a yellowish color more of a
ginger brown stripe. Would be nice if he was though.
If I'm remembering correctly he was in the 15-20 $ price range,
certainly not in the hundreds.
I'll keep an eye out for him in the next couple of
days and see if I can get a better pic.
