Title: ID please!
Post by: Leucotome on March 14, 2012, 07:10:24 PM
Hey Everyone,

I just noticed this little hitchhiker in my tank. It looks like a sea star, pale beige in colour, approx 3/4" in diameter.

Is it good, or should I get rid of it asap?

It's in an easily accessible spot currently.

I also have a red fromia sea star in my tank. Will they be ok together?

Thanks!

After a bit of research, it appears to be an "Asterina Star".

Should I get rid of it?

I've heard that the biggest hazard from those is that you can get LOTS of them...  I have some in my refugium that scoot around eating stuff in there.  Haven't seen them in my DT yet!

Thanks for all the replies!

I think I'll leave it in there.

Looks pretty cool imo!

If you really want to get rid of them.. harlequin shrimp  I believe they chow down on them and they look SWEET!

Just don't do this if you have starfish you want to keep!
