Title: filter gunk
Post by: 76brian on September 25, 2012, 03:57:41 PM
Can anyone donate some used filter media? I'm trying to cycle 2 tanks. I'm in the southeast, near Russell/Metcalfe, can pick up on my way home from work (Hull).

I hope you got some pm's on this. I'm not in your area (am downtown), but am always happy to share/trade a gunky sponge for a new one.

If you have the luxury of planning ahead a bit, you can always add the filter for the new tank to an existing one so it can build up the gunk on it's own.  Extra filtration never hurt a tank! :)  That's how I usually get things going for a new set-up...plus I dump in a bucket of dirty fish water that I have just siphoned from the gravel of an established tank.  It never fails!!
