Title: Part of Film/Laminate Missing
Post by: lucius on October 10, 2012, 08:57:04 PM
I got my new tank today and as I was filling it with water for a leak test, I noticed that there was a mark on the right side.  On closer inspection, it seems as though some film or laminate is missing.  It's about 1.5" high and 2" across, right at the top of the tank.  I filled the tank all the way to the top and no leaks.  Should I be worried about this in the long run?

TIA.

You wouldn't happen to have another pic or two, it's hard to tell what we're looking at.

Can you see the squiggly line now?  Should I try scraping it with a razor blade to see if it will come off?

It looks to me like a thin strand of silicone the has gotten stuck to the glass...

Unless you have a very large tank with very thick (1"+) glass, there likely aren't any laminations to worry about.

As for film, there shouldn't be any on the glass.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it does look like a thin strand of silicone.
