Post by: blueknight0303 on December 17, 2012, 05:21:54 PM
i heard shrimps with the same species cannot be put together in 1 tank because of crossbreeding... but what if i want them to crossbreed? thinking of blue tiger shrimp and crystal red shrimp....

I think you are going on the presumption that you will get something that looks really cool, like a crystal blue shrimp. What you would likely get is a drab looking shrimp that may be more aggressive than the other shrimp you have. Most of the breeders who refine color through breeding (which is how the CRS came to be relatively common in the hobby) did it through careful selection of individuals that showed the traits by wanted, but not by mixing different species of the same family.

Hybrids can be cool, but in general unless you know allot about genetics it's probably best not to mix them.
