Title: lily pipes - quality and prices?
Post by: ma_clement on October 18, 2013, 02:46:20 PM
I'd like to get some lily pipes, mainly because I find the big green pipes of my eheim annoying in my small 20 gallon tank

I've found some cheap ones on ebay (Am i allowed to copy a link here???)

20 $ for both the intake and output pipes

Are these supposed to be any good?

Are there things I should be aware of with cheap chinese lily pipes?

I'd like to get some, but I am not ready to pay the outrageous prices that some stores ask

The adage of you get what you pay for applies here,  a set of Lilly Pipes for 20.00 tells a story - poor quality & easier susceptible to breakage more so that the more expensive ones.
Regards

ah, so better quality would mean more solid (thicker glass I suppose)

What brand/prices should I look into to get a decent set?

I've used both the real thing, ADA stuff, and the knock offs, and found the best quality knocks offs, closest to the real thing, were the viv brand. I don't think ebay lists the brand names of the knock offs though.
