Title: babies in my tank, help needed
Post by: Ruber on August 05, 2014, 10:23:37 AM
Ok so short story is I had a 10G upstairs with 5 zebrafish.    Emptied the water and brought it downstairs,   Installed a Underwater filter with the gravel that was already in there.

Couple days later I moved the zebrafish to a 50G to cycle that one also.

I had 3 pregnant guppies that I decided to move to my 10G freshly cycled and perfect.

The second I put them in I noticed tiny little babbies swimming around.    So I looked at my guppies and put them in separate breeding nets in my 10G but none of them are giving birth,    So are these guppies or zebrafish?   I counted maybe 15 of them total.

They are either swimming or sticking to the glass.

They are zebra danio babies - guppies come out as a miniature free swimming version of their parents

You want to get some plants in there for the babies to hid in - the mother will start eating them...

I took the mother out once she was done and put her back in the main tank.    the babies have a 10G tank with java moss to themself
