Title: Need Help to identify this Substrate please!
Post by: Ruber on August 13, 2014, 09:02:03 PM
I bough this used and wondering what type it is, I bough 40 pounds worth.

Got a really good price,  Looks like clay in there also and breaks if I pinch it.

Anyone know what this substrate looks like?

I needed lots for a couple 10G tanks and figured this would be a cheaper solution then buying new.

thanks

It's hard to tell by the picture, but it somewhat looks like Flourite Red, parts of it anyway.

Cell phone was low on battery and the flash wasn't working,  here is a close up picture, hope that helps.

That does look like clay,  Hope it good for plants.

I agree, I'd say it's a mixture of flourite red and black large granule size. IME this is one of the best available substrates for planted tanks.
