Title: Ideal 10 gallon tank Filter
Post by: 101DalmatianMollies on October 14, 2014, 09:05:08 AM
Hi everybody!

I was wondering what your thoughts were on what is the best filter for a 10 gallon tank that will be housing shrimp.

We're debating between;
Aquaclear
Aqueon
Marineland
Tetra

We are open to other suggestions as well. Thanks very much!

I personally prefer the aquaclears with a pre-filter spong or grill. I've been using these since I was a kid and the design hasn't changed in all that time.  Great filters.

I'm a big fan of Aquaclear also.

Aquaclear definitely here as well.
Very easy to use and you can make your own sponges and filter materials.

personally I don't like power filters when the power goes outand back on the filter needs to be reprimed with water to start flowing again.so if the power goes out when you're not home and the power comes back on your filter will burn out due to lack of water flow

I have never had that happen to me at least with the aquaclear and marineland units

This only happens from a lack of maintenance.

It's very likely happen if the pump is higher than the water level in the tank.  If the pump is lower, I don't see how that could happen.  Bernoulli's principle  ;)
