Title: Long shot
Post by: Caitiepi on December 04, 2015, 08:44:15 PM
Hello all,

Recently I've stumbled across some videos on YouTube showing the Anostomus Anostomus (striped headstander) and the Nannostomus mortenthaleri (coral red Pencilfish). I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that these fish aren't available around here? I've tried searching online but to no avail. Such beautiful fish though!

I think the marbled headstanders are more common. Youd might have to special order them from big als and they come in fairly small.

Ah, fair enough. I'm not a huge fan of the marbled ones, I like the sleek look of the striped :)
Thanks for your response!

Special ordering them is an option. Talk to Marc-Andre at La Niche or Jason at Little Critters.

If you do end up having to special order some, and plan on doing that mid january, let me know, I`m interested in the Nannostomus mortenthaleri myself, but I have to wait for my tank to cycle first.

It'll probably be a while before I see about special ordering anything- I need to upgrade my tank size first :p

Actually big als do get them in sometimes and you could ask Jody over at the Innes location and he could probebly get some in. They are quit common actually and I mistakened them with a different species. I use to have some of these guys and I remember paying $21.99 each!!!

I'll have to ask next time I pop in to the Innes location. I imagine you're referring to the Pencilfish and not the striped Headstander?
Thanks for all the advice about locating these two species!
