Title: Goldfish in warmer water
Post by: Martin on July 05, 2019, 10:33:37 AM
I have a 46 gallon that I'd like to stock with 2 goldfish alone. I don't have air conditioning at my place, so in the summer the water temperature regularly goes over 80F. I've had tropical fish without problems, but I know goldfish prefer cooler water. Should I avoid goldfish given my temperatures?

Are there any special tricks to keep the water cooler?

I know longer keep goldfish and do have air conditioning.  However  if not I would have a fan a safe distance away  blowing towards the tank and perhaps get a ice cube container to fill with tank water and freeze. When solid and if you notice the temperature in the tank getting high you can place some frozen iced cubes to help cool the tank.
