Title: Co2 Tubing Question
Post by: noahcw on February 04, 2020, 03:53:09 PM
Hey Everyone,

I am looking to get standard aquarium co2 tubing to fit on to the output of this regulator, Is there a trick or an adapter I can buy to do so? Or if you have any other advice, please let me know!

You need to replace that whole output piece with a CO2 needle valve.  The needle valve will allow you to fine tune the amount of CO2 going into your tank.

Like the entire regulator?

No, you just need to replace the circled piece.

That output valve is a ball valve that cannot handle the fine control requi9 for injecting co2 into aquariums.
You will need to remove it from the regulator output port which is female 1/4 NPT thread.
You will then need a 1/4 NPT to 1/8 NPT reducing bushing which will allow for assembly of a 1/8 NPT   solenoid if you desire one or a 1/8 NPT needle valve .
The1/ 8 NPT parts are much more common for use in our hobby.
The reducing brass bushing  and other brass fittings are easily found at Ottawa Fasteners ( 2 locations in Ottawa)
JL Aquatics have a suitable solenoid and needle valve.
I will try and post some links when have some more time.

You will likely find all those required parts at boone plumbing as well. 4 locations around town. One in Kanata too.

Here are a few links, as mentioned, JL Aquatics has some suitable solenoid and needle valve, i have no personal experiences with the pieces linked.
One thing to note is  needle valves vary in the amount of fine control offered.

https://www.jlaquatics.com/needle-valve-for-co2-regulator-high-precision.html.
The following , i have personal experience with and have found them to be both reliable and adequate

For brass fittings ,l  highly recommend Ottawa Fastener supply for small quantities and diy`ers

As an example here is the reducing bushing required

Here's a good thread from charlie that has some more details and pics on the assembly process.  The difficult part is actually sourcing the parts needed.
