Post by: Julie on January 22, 2006, 06:54:56 PM
What is recommended to eliminate aiptasia?  Has anyone tried boiling water and a turkey baster?
Where can I purchase Joe's Juice?

Thanks,
Julie

Thanks Dark, do I actually insert a syringe into the anenome or do I just use the needle casing and plunger with vinegar?

If you can catch the bugger before he closes, squirt as much as possible directly in or around it. They are fast and will know you are coming for them :) I am going to try Joe's very soon.

I will have to deal with the problem as well.  I will be injecting (or trying to inject) lemon concentrate into the stalk.

Thanks for the suggestions and the excellent link.
I used a pipette and some pickling vinegar - got rid of them all except one.

I remove the rock, boil some vinegar and blast the little buggers! I had a couple before, and now am down to one on a very targe rock thats not coming out!

Can you use the vinegar in the tank?!?

FishPassion, how did the boiled water work?

Small amounts of vinegar should be ok in the main tank. Don't go pouring(injecting) liters of the stuff in though.

Right on Dark - won't have noticeable affect on the pH if you only dose a couple or three critters each day.

I got a coral from LFS with 3 Aiptasia sitting on the side. Good for me I found it on the same day day. So next day I took coral out and used boiling water "injection" in syringe. It is interesting, as they just, let's say, dissolved...
Another good point to have QT :)

I've been in two pharmacies recently looking for a large syringe without success.  Anyone have a source for these?

Farmers use them. So maybe Richie Feed and Seed has them.

I love joe's juice.  Get a few drops on them and presto- no more Aiptisia.  They always die for me.  Careful not to put too much though, you'll end up with white powder everywhere.

If they are small enough peppermint shrimp like to feast on them too. A good way to control outbreaks after you kill off the source aiptisia.

Redbelly boiling water works great I use about a 3 or 4 cc syringe and ummmmmmmmmm uhhhhhhhh get them from my family doctor lol he knows about my aquarium addiction. He actually thinks of me when he goes to GT boutique and sees shrimp rings cause thats where I buy my shrimp for the tank
Julie I thought the government was giving out condoms didnt know about syringes.''
