Title: Macro Algae in main Reef
Post by: Julie on January 23, 2006, 09:25:03 AM
Hi, just wondering if it's safe to let macro algae grow in my tank?
I have halimedia and grape caulerpera(sp?) growing - I've been regularly pruning the grape.

Be sure to prune the grape regualrily. its not unsafe, just considered an eye swore by some. I have the razor and the grape growing in my 33g and now have the cheato in my 60g. I prefer this stuff as its non bonding. when the grape gets out or control it can be a real pain to peel off the rocks and sometimes you will end up taking off more than you actually wanted too.
Julie, with your size tank you could always run an aqua clear on the back and have your macro in there.

I do have a small whisper hob - the ac500 is too large for the space in my microwave cabinet.

Keep pruning it. You wouldn't want the tank to turn into a planted salt water tank would you :)
