Title: Using Tremclad paint in the fishroom?

Does anyone know if it is OK to use Tremclad paint in the same room as the fish? I have a few metal stnds in desprate need of some rust cover up operations.

Hi
As long as you brush it on it should be ok. However , you may have a problem if you are using spray bombs. Even when brushed on the room should be well ventilated.

Have you actually used it with fish on the stand (in a tank with water of course lol)

Yes, But this was during the summer when I was able to have the doors and windows open. If you want to do it during the winter you may have to tape plastic over the tanks , until the paint dries. The vapor from tremclad paint is fairly strong

Thanks for the info James - I think I'll wait for summer. I painted a stand in my basement and the vapours were pretty strong, that's why I posed the question.

A tip that I've seen passed around is to cover the openings of the tanks with damp towels while in the painting process. Helps keep the water safe, or so I've read...

But I think it's the smart thing waiting for summer when you can open up the windows.
