Title: Eversoft polyester stuffing
Post by: tuvok on February 08, 2006, 11:02:09 PM
Eversoft is one of the polyester stuffing brands available at Wal-Mart. Has anyone ever used this as filter media? My concern is that it may be treated with some sort of mould or fire retarding compount that may be harmful to my livestock.

That's what I use.  Anything marked as 100% polyester is fine...and I can tell you from months of use that THAT stuff is fine.  I have some in probably every tank in the house :)

Am I glad to hear that! It's so much cheaper than the fluff marketed for aquarium use.

I use the Mountain Mist brand, also from Walmart.  after months of use no probs here... ~ $4/1lb

Thanks all. I e-mailed Eversoft and your responses and observations support their statement that the polyester is pet safe. Sounds like this is the way to go for cheap filter media.
