Title: Length of light or housing?
Post by: lucky777 on May 24, 2006, 12:33:09 AM
Is 24" the length of housing or light bulb?

http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=23831;category_id=1853;pcid1=1843;pcid2=

Also anyone know why US prices for big al's are so much cheaper then canadian site?

The 48" lights are $99 candian and $ 39.99 for the same one on us site ???

Even with the exchange it turns out to be alsmot %50 of canadian price.

Just guessing! Probably the cost of shipping to Canada fron the states, and also consider the brokerage fee crossing borders! And the Admin fee!

Yeah but I live 5 minutes from us border in Cornwall and my grandmother lives in Massena which is on the other side of the bridge, my items always get shipped there. All I pay is $2.25 to cross the border and back.  Still think price difference is ridiculous since items are shipped from niagra.

Selling to a population base of 300 million means lower pricing than selling to a base of 30 million

I think Big Als runs these operations together so his buying power is based on combined US/Canadian population. His selling prices are based on what the market will bear, more competition in the US from That Fish Place and others so he can't charge as much. In other words he is kind of screwing us Canadians because he can.

But if he didn't, a store in ottawa would NOT be profitable, and thus close.
