Title: Lights for a 10g
Post by: SnowJob on June 01, 2006, 12:22:10 PM
question; for a 10 gal, how can I easily achieve the 2wpg or even better 3wpg?

I currently have the standard fluo hood with a 15w strip. Also have a used standard hood with two bulb socket.....you know, the one that comes with the tanks when you buy them...

The 15w fluo strip is nice but would like a little more light still...

Thanks all!

With A tank that smaill, you can scratch out the wpg rating...

HEad to canadian tire/walmart/homehardware, etc, and purchase some spiral florescent bulbs.  I have been using them for years now and they are normally very bright in a tank.  Heat/humididy will be an issue, but that will only cause these lights to die prematurly, eg: 1 year.  Which, IMHO, is what we pay for those darn 15W ones.

With these bulbs, running at ~13W, will bring your "WPG" to 12....
