Title: diatom filter
Post by: arobed on June 20, 2006, 12:55:55 PM
Hi

I just bought a vortex freedom diatom filter. Anyways after lots of commotion (the directions were not that clear to me) I installed it and I was amazed on how quickly it clears up water ...the problem is that it makes a lot of noise and a lot of air bubbles come out of the outtake strainer I am thinking I must have done something wrong
any tips or advice is very much appreciated

thanks

The diatoms are noisy, as they are a direct shaft drive. They will pump some air. If you bought it used, you may need a new shaft seal?
Seal the bag as vortex suggest with silicone, you will get more life out of it.
Wear a mask when filling the powder. Be careful not to inhale the dust. I have a D1 my next one will be a freedom. Alot less hassle.
I love my diatom, it does a great job.
