I picked this plant up from a lake this weekend. It's a pretty little carpet plant, grows in clumps of various sizes. The plantlets themselves are on average about 5cm high. Any ideas? I've searched lots of aquatic plant pages today and can't find it. The 2nd shot shows a closeup of the neat texture of the leaves.

It looks mostly green from here, with blue and white gravel underneath, I would venture to suggest that it is the underwater version of the triffids, so do be careful. :-X
Actually, its the rarely found freshwater anenome. Sloth-like mobility... with limited stinging power... rather lazy and lackluster species...
To propogate... a Barry White background and a complete water change to 95% grain alcohol.
Emersed growth looks similar to cannibis
Sigh

...with an armour class of 9, and a +3 ressistance to fire. Should pose no threat to any class other then Clerics.
Heavy Sigh
LMAO you guys... the Triffids...
On a semi-related note, the clump of plants came with a sizeable leech. He's currently living in a bowl on my kitchen counter and I'm rather hesitant to feed him... anyone looking for an unusual pet?
Just like Audrey II, stick your finger in the bowl and feed the poor little rascal, then we can call you Paleodrinkfishseymourgirl. Audrey only wants to take over the world starting with your kitchen. ;D
ok babblefish, can you please cite cultural references from this century, so the kids under 27 such as myself can understand them?
Little Shop of Horrors Art.... ;D
God, you really *did* grow up under a rock...
never heard of it, next!
Don't you just love the example the exec are setting...
An exec-only posted thread... and no one has come even close to a useful contribution
Way to go team! :P
ROFL
I could just delete all of the unhelpful posts in this thread...
which would be every one except yours
you'd think the All Powerful Plant God would know the exact genus and species of your plant. Big Daddy, you disappoint me, my friend

Verklempt is good, just no capes, they never work right.
Artibartfast has clearly missed an entire life of mass media culture that only shows the parochial nature of living under rocks syndrome. Perhaps a monty python night is in order to begin his education.
I think I'll pass on that.
Looks like Quillwort possibly?
Or perhaps Pipewort, Eriocaulon septangulare?
Oh Matt you stinker, we had managed to go so long without a serious bit of aid here, and now you are being helpful, what sort of example is that?
Perhaps it is a house plant trying its hand at something new, was out for a stroll and got kidnapped by the deadfishchick just when it was getting far enough into the lake to begin its marvelous journey to the sea where it would begin its empire to rule alongside Neptune, overthrowing vast armies of urchins and anemones, blithely unaware that with the deft stroke of a swipe from above, he would spend his days in a glass box, always wondering what was on the other side of the window.
Either that, or it's a featherwort disquised as a stringy aloe lily from deepest darkest africa, okay, I'll shut up now, no he won't, too late, not drink yet I guess, we'll leave that to roxy and the black widow.
Thanks Matt :D
Looks like quillwort for sure - hopefully not Engelmann's Quillwort, which seems to be found in only 2 populations in the whole province and is registered as endangered :( That would be just my luck...
well you might be able to propogate them, BigD seemed to have a prity good understanding of how to do it.
