 ???Hi all i have just puchased a eheim 2227 wet/dry filter but it did not come with media so here is my question what do i need if i want to use it with a new 30 gallon saltwater tank that i want to start??? Is the media the same for freshwater and saltwater. Thanks  :)

I had a 2226 which I assume is similar, it has square shaped cargo bays.  you can buy the sponges and floss that fit it at Big Als, they come with the hole in them pre-cut.    I am not sure if the filtration is the same for FW/SW but you can buy all of the fancy biomax stuff at Big Als,  or you could probably just throw in pot scrubbies or sponges from older filters.   its really just the custom Eheim floss and sponges on top that do all of the mechanial filtration work

Most salt water people will tell you NOT to use a canister filter in a salt setup.  They tend to be nitrate factories (which, in salt, is not a good thing or so I've read)

Is this a fish only setup?  fish only with live rock?  or a reef?
