Title: Mandarin Dragonet changes color at night
Post by: martin_jones on October 31, 2013, 07:52:19 AM
Wow. Didn't realise this, but the Mandarin Dragonet changes color during the night time for camouflage.

At first I thought he'd died, but apparently it's what they do.

Alternatively, it could be his Halloween costume...

Yup.  Lots of fish change color at night.  I had a yellow tang who was almost white after dark.  I think my old mandarin was the most dramatic change though.

Wow, I never would have known that the change was that drastic. Is your mandarin eating frozen Martin?

I don't think he's eating frozen. He seems to watch it float past, but not much else. He's in an established tank with lots of rock, so hopefully enough pods there.
