Turned my filter off to quickly tidy the tank area and it won't come back on.
I didn't dry run it and have since cleaned the impeller but it's still not working.
It was a aquaclear 20 I had a spare aquaclear 30 motor that I am using as a temp replacement. Is this a problem?

The AC20,30,50 and 70 motors are identical, the impeller fins are all that is different - so no problem there. Usually a cleaning of the motor well and impeller magnet fix it, if a kick start with a pencil doesn't motivate it, you'll want to replace the motor. I believe Hagen is now dealing parts directly from their website. I found a replacement motor online for 17.99 plus shipping.
Can you feel the motor running if you just plug it in?
Like tanksalot360 said, you can jump start it using something to poke it. I raise the U tube and poke the impeller with a straw and it will start. The straw is flimsy plastic so you don't have to worry about it damaging the impeller if you poke too much.
