Non-Member Classifieds / 30gal cube with croaking goura...
Last post by Gowalkitoff - October 05, 2026, 11:21:37 PM
Rehoming my 30 gal cube complete setup. Almost 2feet square. Contains a breeding pair of croaking gourami, 4 khuli loaches, 1 banjo catfish, 1 super red busynose pleco. I have not been able to find a manufacturer's glass lid for it, and I do not like acrylic, so I use screen. Sand substrate, spider wood, Mopani wood, rock, pennywort, water lettuce, maybe some wisteria. The gourami require this degree of dense planting or its fight club. It is perfect as it sits, and hearing the male croak is relaxing and super neat. Nests often though I am struggling to get babies past wiggler stage.

Eheim 2260 canister filter, eheim heater, nicrew light, Python water changing hose, the cabinet and all the goodies in the cabinet (spare parts, circulation pumps, decor, etc etc). Downsizing because of arthritis. Ottawa St Laurent. Asking $160. Please email me at

Freshwater Shrimps / Re: Assassin snails
Last post by lucius - September 25, 2026, 10:27:32 AM
You can place a slice of zucchini in your tank and leave it there for a few hours.  Eventually you will find the snails on the zucchini and you can just remove them this way.  Repeat every couple of days.  If they are Malaysian Trumpet Snails, then do this when the lights are off.  Your shrimp will eat the zucchini also.

Freshwater Shrimps / Assassin snails
Last post by Jeff1192 - September 24, 2026, 05:38:37 PM
So I've had a 17 gallon shrimp tank with chili rasboras in it for some time but my shrimp colony has never thrived and I've rarely seen babies. It's really heavily planted so I know it wasn't that all the babies were getting eaten. Finally took some time a while back to look into it and it was my kh was really low (0.5-1). Since boosting it with crushed coral in my canister things are looking up. However my snail population has also blow up. There were always a few snails but I think the low kh ended up causing them to never really develop due to minerals lacking for their shells.

So now I'm looking to cull the snails and I'm thinking an assassin snail would help keep them in check.

Anyone seen any assassin snails locally lately

Thanks

Jeff
