User name change?

Anybody know if there's a way to change my user name? I would like to pick something more suiting to who I am and what I do.

There is an old thread discussing this ....but things may have changed since then. I can imagine that you'd need a good reason to cause the webmaster more work. BTW I understand we need a new webmaster.

I expect this old explanation is still valid....

The only real way this could be done would be to ask to have your current account deleted, following that, re-apply as a new registrant, There would of course be approvals and the time lag. Additionally, in this way though, you would lose all connections to your recent posts and pm's.

well, there is another way but it's only changing the name that is displayed, not the login name. To do this, simply PM your web master and explain why you need to change your display name. So, for example, if your login name is groupie02 and you no longer want that name to show up because you're not proud of all the groupies out there, you can ask your web master, via PM, to change the display name to your new favourite name: Bozo. 

Your web master will look at your request, think about it for a while and say no.   Ok, maybe he will say yes. He will then change your display name. Everything will remain like it was but all of your groupie02 posts will show up under Bozo's name. 

I said that this only changed the display name. That means that when you log into the web site, you still need to provide the original login name and password (groupie02/password).

I hope this clarifies things a bit.
