I am looking for an application for Horticulture. I was reading the CAOAC AHAP Rules but can't seem to find the form it refers to. I did find the breeders one expecting the Horticulture one would be there too.

Also, I think I would score 70 points for "Basic". Has anyone gone through the process and would like to give me some tips?

CLASS A:
Vesicularia dubyana (java moss)
- trippled in size

Ceratophyllum demersum (hornwort)
- doubled in size

CLASS B:
Vallisneria
- runners everywhere

Hygrophila difformis
- 5 inch of new growth

Hygrophila polysperma
- grow from stem several times

CLASS C:
Cryptocoryne Wentii (Green)
- 3 new plants

Pistia stratiotes
- 20 X original amount

Thanks

There really is no form.  You have to basically fill out the "Spawning Resume".  I just filled out an Excel spreadsheet instead.  As long as it has the required information, anything will do.

There are different requirements for what constitues "propogating" a plant though.

For floating plants (duckweed, mosses, etc.)

You must double the amount you started with

For stem plants

You must produce clippings that reach the same size as the original plant

For rosettes

You must sever the daughter plants from the mother plant (cut the runners) and the daughter must achieve the same relative size as the mother plant.

I got my Basic two years ago and I am sending in my qualifications for Expert this month.  I am only one or two species shy and about 80 points from Master.

The big thing is, you need to let the BAP Chair (jodes22 on the forum, Jodie S at club meetings) know that you are applying and be able to prove that you have met the requirements.  There are different ways to do that (i.e. if you have sold plants at the meeting obviously you must have propogated them yourself) but it is at the discretion of the BAP chair to validate if it will be a recognized propogation.

Hope this helps.
As far as tips go.. I notice you list doesn't have any Anubias on it.  It is the only class D plant that anyone realistically has a chance to get a hold of and is a requirement for getting beyond Basic (it is the reason I didn't qualify for Advanced two years ago   DOH!)

Thanks BigDaddy!

I'll contact Jodes22 and look into Anubias for a future application.
