There are a number of such scams floating around. There are also people who bait the scammers and mess with them. You can read some of the e-mail scam baiting stuff here. Although this is just spam, it proved a point about our forum that I think needs to be looked at.  When you create a profile, it should NOT automatically show your email address to the public.  This option should be defaulted to "hidden", and then can be displayed at the user's leisure.

I think this is more a case of "read what the options are".

I have my e-mail blocked, and have never received any spam.  Editing my profile was the first thing I did when I joined this (and any other, for that matter) forum.

As much as I would like to hide my email I want to leave it up for other OVAS members if I need to be contacted by email, maybe we could just have it hidden so non members can't see?

club members can PM you. you can setup your profile to notify you when you receive a PM.  That way, you do not have to post your email address.

I think this is the best idea for everyone.  If someone is a part of our forum, they can log in and PM you, and then as groupie02 said, you can set up the email notification.  That eliminates the chance of spam and still allows people to contact you.
