Anyone know of any camps or volunteers needed to help out with saving coral reefs ?
(conservation)
Would be cool to go to costa rica or barbados (basically anywhere warm and has a beach) and do somework to protect the reefs

Having a hard time finding any, that are cheap. im not going to pay 2000 dollars to get involved with one.
Let me know if you have heard of anything or know someone who has done this before.
:D

I think they will need volunteers in the Gulf Coast really soon.

Check out reef doctor.org. They offer some smaller trips like a month in duration and larger 3 month trips.

Maybe through the FEMA website? Google "Gulf Coast Clean up volunteers".

I Googled that and found this - "http://topsy.com/www.oilspillvolunteers.com/" &  "http://www.oilspillvolunteers.com/"

First off - you need to have some qualifications. CFR 1910.120 (Hazwoper training) hazardous waste operations
Or other hazardous materials training like NFPA 472 HazMat Operations or Technician level Certification.
You will find that dan2x38 link to register is closed.

National Audubon Society is still accepting volunteer registration for land based shoreline cleanup, wildlife rehabilitation and waterfoul decontamination.
http://www.audubonaction.org/site/Survey?ACTION_REQUIRED=URI_ACTION_USER_REQUESTS&SURVEY_ID=3400
Have not seen anything in reference to volunteers to conserve coral reefs.
Unless you are a certified commercial HazMat diver, I don't think they are looking for recreational or sport divers

Nice thought, don't know what qualifications you have, but they are offering to provide 2 day 24 hour Hazwoper training.
Don't know if the training is being offered FREE, I would think that some Organizations would train you for free if you were volunteering your time and efforts.
