I think they are going alphabetically through the 613 area code.

It cost $2 per month with Rogers to have an unlisted phone number.  I have never received calls like you and Stussi  described but still get hang up calls.

I've got my number on the national "do not call list". It's free and we hardly ever get a call, except if it's from the US, and we then remind them of the $10,000 fine potential for telemarketing a number on the list, and they just hang up.

Yes, I signed up on that list too - and then the list was sent to the telemarketers, saying "Don't call these people".  BRILLIANT.

Part of the problem with that do-not-call system and the fine is that they can't fine people who are calling from some other countries - and that's where some of these calls are coming from.  So you can threaten them all you want, it's not going to stop them.

After we put our number on that list we receive maybe one call every two months approx, so I'd say the list really does work.
