Does anyone do anything with their hyacinth other than composting? It seems a waste to toss all the beautiful plants.

I no longer have a tank indoors to winter over, but I'm going to try and winter over a couple again, this time with fertilizer. I failed miserably last year.

I've tried to iverwinter them multiple times, in tanks, in windows, in bowls, but they've always died. I wonder if the light is just not enough.

I have overwintered them - potted them tropical soil mix, kept the soil wet and placed them under a grow light. They did quite well over the winter, but did not do much when they went back outside in the spring.

I came across this thread on overwintering water hyacinth: https://www.koiphen.com/forums/showthread.php?126268-Best-way-to-overwintering-water-hyacinth

Personally I only overwinter water lilies, arrow heads and the like and that is easy enough to do as they have bulbs....
