Okay so a little about me.  :P
First off my real name is Mike, but don't tell anyone!

I currently work as a Service Tech/Contract Sales Rep for a laboratory company and I am usually on the road doing service/sales calls anywhere in the 613 area code. Sometimes I'm in the office doing paper work and on the Ovas Forum in the background.

At home I am a married father of two girls ages 5 and 2.5, and a volunteer Fireman. . Our Fire Meetings are always Monday nights and that is why I never make it to any of the OVAS meetings. Trying to get that changed though.

As for tanks and fish I am still a newbie and make plenty of mistakes. I've only been keeping fish for 18 months. I started with a 37 gallon freshwater with platies, mollies and the like. Now it has Tetras, Amano Shrimp, Siamese Algae Eater and a clown laoach. I also have a 10 gallon planted tank in my daughters room that has a couple of cories and lots of cherry and amano shrimp. I don't have anything as spectacular as most of you guys/gals have, but someday I hope to.

I really want to get into saltwater and will probably take the leap in the new year. I have been reading tons of info already. It won't be soon, but maybe in late spring sometime I will start the journey into saltwater as $$$ permits. It seems to be much more expensive.

Anyway that's enough about me. Wanna know more just ask. I won't bite unless you want me too!

Oh and in case you didn't notice...I am a

Welcome aboard secret Mike shrimpy, please don't be intimidated by what you think you see, the only really dumb questions, especially when you're experiencing troubles, are the ones that are never asked.

I have to say I am very amused by the smileys you seem to have a plethora of, they are so darn cute.

I think that is wonderful that you set up a tank for your daughter, for in a way she is smarter than you, her brain is absorbing so much, she is in her formative years, and everything you learn, she learns too. Why, she could become something of an afishianado someday.

So welcome, and enjoy. :D

Yes I do love shrimp. :) The only advice I can give is to have lots of hiding spots for them. They really like to have hiding spots after molting. In my large tank my larger amanos disappear for 2-3 days after molting. They go inside a large castle and don't come out at all until they are all hardened up. In my small tank I have lots of cherry and small amano shrimp. I keep the lights on for 14 hours to promote algae growth (which isn't the norm) so they have lots to eat! Both my tanks have floating plants because shrimp love to climb, search, hang upside down, etc...  They are just so much fun to watch too!! I enjoy them more than the fish. :)

As soon as I find the time I want to try raising brine shrimp into adults. I've read it is difficult, but possible with the right setup. So maybe in the new year I'll give it a whirl. :)
