Recently purchased at the auction and I've searched the net for info, and nothing comes up!   Even Cichlid sites have never heard of it.    Is there another name for this type of Cichlid?

I guess I could contact the seller, but I left the ID tag at home.

Any info would help.....thanks!

People's spelling of latin names is often rather 'colourful'...

I'm guessing what you have is Iodotropheus sprengerae (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=707)

When I run into a name I can't find otherwise, I go to cichlid-forum (http://www.cichlid-forum.com), hit the 'profiles' button, and use the search-by-genus function to get everything in the genus.  Then look for one that could be misspelled to get the name you're looking for.

In addtion to which sometimes correctly spelled names may get mangled because I was unable to correctly decipher the handwriting.

That's ok.    It was a bag with 3 fry in it.     Very active fish with the other mixed bag of cichlids I bought.    They love the clay pots for hide and seek!
