Hi Guys,

Bubbles my betta is finally getting his own 10 naturally planted tank so we can avoid 100% water changes on his 3 gallon tank.  1 less five gallon jug to cart each week from my moms.

At the auction a lot of plants don't list their lighting requirements.  Rather than research 1000 plants I'm hoping I can make a cheat sheet of what I know will work.  A lot of the plants that I like don't seem to be up for sale often in the classified so I don't want to find a plant online and not be able to buy it at the auction.

It will be a NPT with no CO2 and using basic soil/gravel substrate.  Debating about using crushed coral also or mixing my highph/kh/gh well water with my mom's lowph/kh/gh water instead?

I will have 2.6wpg on it.

Can you guys help me chose some plants that will survive?  Since its a fresh environment I will avoid the black brush algae plague that would kill these plants in my other tanks : )  I don't care about the looks of the plants - just the function.

I would really appreciate it!!!!

Wow! Great list jrp!

I have one to add to floating plants:  Pistia Stratiotes "Water Lettuce"

I have had huge success with this plant in low and medium light setups. It reproduces extremely fast too.

jrs

Thank you, I have updated the list.

If anyone else has any others I would appreciate the input.

Fishnut

Is the water lettuce the same kind that the garden centres and LFS's get in for floating on ponds?  That gets quite large doesn't it?

Presto, I might hit you up for some (if you have some to spare) to add to my koi/godfish pond :)  I LOVE getting plants when I know where they come from.
