heyy.. here's my 90g planted tank... a couple months old, lost most of my background, ground cover, XL amazons plants during the move .... i knw the tank needs trimming, i just cant figure where to start. still having algea issues, shown in last 2 pics.

I did not put an effort into the look, i only threw the plants inside just for them to grow first and recover. Now they are ready, i think.

Algea

Hi there - your tank looks great.

You need to remove your bubble wand if you are injecting CO2. Otherwise your CO2 will not remain dissolved in the tank water. The water surface should be calm to keep the CO2 in.

This will help your algae.
Cheers, Steve

Toss

Considering it is only two months, great job!
Your algae problem is very minor. They will go away soon ;)
I also notice a powerhead placed to close to the surface. As mentioned by OttawaFolk, too much surface movement will increase loss of CO2 from the water.

i too it off at one time, but then surface scum appeared, the surface loooked oily..

Toss

use a timer and set it to on only after the main light shut off and off just before your CO2 starts to kick in.

You mean the air thing or the powerhead ??

Toss

You can use the powerhead during the "daylight" but try to aim it down. The timer is for the air stone or bubbles.

I modded a surface skimmer http://www.bigalsonline.ca/StoreCatalog/ctl3664/cp48472/si3812144/cl1/tom_surface_skimmer?&query=surface+skimmer&queryType=0&hits=12&offset=0 to a Magnum HOT filter and added a spray bar. Works well, surface stays clear.
The intake can be adjusted at feeding time.

@ washefuzzy: THANK YOU  :)

@ smalltownfan: this is definitly an option, (am currently trying out toss's idead on having the air on a timer), less equipments & cable visible lol. but is the intake always connected to this or do you just use it after/during feedtime ?
