Just found this floating plant in my tank, I think it might be Salvinia natans.  Seems like a nice plant.

Yeap, that's some kind of Salvinia sp. - it's hard to tell exactly what. Like every floating plant it usually thrives, but I found this one more demanding than duckweed. It really needs a fair amount of light, and doesn't like it too warm. With CO2 it will just thrive like duckweed. But because it grows in a chain it will be much easier to control.

Ok thanks for the confirmation.  You're right, its growing fast - I replaced the original lighting on the 48 gallon with compact fluorescent.   I have found that it grows a couple of inches and splits apart.  So now from one piece there are a half dozen.  I like it better than the giant duckweed (the emperor tetras eat all the small duckweed) as it has a nice shape and the roots grow about a half inch long.
