Ok I have a pair of dwarf gourami one male and one female..I noticed that the male is building a huge bubblenest in my water sprite..does this mean he is trying to mate with the female or is it like bettas it can also mean he is happy and healthy any info on this would be appriecated!! Thanxs!

DARKPHREAK

I've got 4 honey gourami, 2 male 2 female in my 75g, they are about half mature 1.5 inchs. 1 of the males spends all of his time building nests. I think you could consider him ready and willing to mate but has the female gone to see what hes doing?

Pisidan

Nope not as yet she is swimming around but i notice when she gets near himhe pecks at her and she runs off!!

DARKPHREAK

Yup my honey goes head to head with the dwarf who is atleast 3 times his size to chase him away from the nest. Looks like hes ready but she doesnt want anything to do with him. From what I understand its hard to get dwarfs to mate moreso when there are other fish in the tank.

Ok thanxs who knows I will let nature take its course LOL..He bubblenest is huge though LOL Stands like an inch out of the water LOL!!

Pisidan,

My pair did spawn successfully and I raised some fry to adulthood. Too bad I made some mistakes in the process and I lost a lot of fry but 9 adult and beautiful grouramis did make it through and look nice!
