Newbie Type Question: Foam Filters?

Can a foam filter be attached to the end of the intake on my Magnum 350 all DIY style?

Or does it require the Airstone meathod?

Yeah...dunno what the "airstone method" is.  But you can put a foam filter on any water intake, really.

I believe the airstone method would be the foam at the bottom of a tube with the airstone inside to draw the water through the foam.

iceman has what i mean.  An airstone at the bottom of a tube.

Sponge Filters use air stones to airlift the water up and draw water in. 


If you have a hydrosponge or similer sponge filter there is no reason you can't attach it to a powerhead or canister filter.

The APW missed a simple question.  Perhaps he should take his head out of code mode.    But hey, what do I know. I'm just a user. Please don't hurt me.  Oh crap I can feel him closimg in now. The corner filter works with an airstone to draw water throught the filter, oh, never mind.
