Tips on changing tank and contents

few ques: you need to do it fast or can u do it slow? what size to what size?

Start with new sand, just seed abit with the old sand. Use as much old water as possible and just move everything at once.

I did this about two or three months ago and wish I had gotten Darkphreak's advice about the aragonite. I used all my old and some other old stuff I bought. I certianly have alot of worms and whatnot's but all that bioload of sediments cause a minicycle and I had so much silt crap floating around I could not place the rockwork properly for days!

Lots of pails and plastic containers ex: rubbermaid, to keep "everything" in. In my case I switched from 2x55s to a 90,
1) kept all my sand and transferred to the 90 put all sand in the 90
2) place baserock and as much liverock as u can
3) I used a pond pump to transfer water but you can use pails as well to do this, either way most important is to replace water slowly as to not cause a sand storm if using pail best way is to syphon from pail into tank slowly
4) I had 3-4 fluval submersible filters running to clean the water using sponge only then carbon after all was placed.
As long as you do it systematically its quite easy just very very long allow yourself alot of time mine took 12 hours and I had no spikes no cycles nothing, a little cloudy for the first 24 hrs but that was to e expected from the sand. Within 48 hrs the tank was PERFECT and I could see right through it.
