Painting back of tank

Like Dan posted a few days ago, I'm not happy with my blue tank background either. I thought I had removed all the bubbles but once it was full of water you could see a bunch of small spots and I could never get them out. Has anyone ever painted the back of their tank while it was still occuppied? Also what type of paint do you used to paint the back of the tank? If painting is not an option I think I'll pull my background off, clean off the vaseline and go with a black background. Any suggestions how to attach it other than vaseline or taping?

I forget where I saw it but will have to look again. There is a backgorund that attaches with no tape or paste, must attach by static some how. Might be just the ticket. I do not like tanks without a background either. I'd be afraid of painting around my tank because of the fumes. Plus how the heck do you get it all covered well enough?

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. The best way to cover it seems to me would be spray paint.....but obviously that's not an option with the fish still in the tank. I think I'll just try and clean off all the Vaseline and just tape the black background on for now. At least that way if I find something better this will be really easy to take off.

If you decide against painting, try the arts store at the corner of Bank & Catherine ( formerly Loomis) The have a vinyl water resistant paper that comes in several different colours and shades of blue. Also black.

It is extremely sticky but once applied looks fantastic. Use lots of water when applying it and buy double the amount you need in case you mess up.

It cost me $3.00 for 3 feet.

Why not use window tint... I used that on my 210g and it worked wonders.
