Now that we're going planted, where can I get tools? ie long handled scissors or clippers, items to assist in planting and any other items that you use that make the job a little easier.

I recommend a pair of these...the Marina "Multi Tool".  They're long (but they fold down for easy storage) and they come with tongs and with clippers.  Can't be beat for pushing plants into substrate, and the clippers mean you can do some trimming without getting your hands wet.

I've got 2 of them!

Every now and again i see some long stainless tweezers at Princess auto, i also have a pair of these

Ontario medical supplies can also get you some 9 inch stainless curved tip ( Metzenbaum) scissors, but you need to go in & order.

I bought my tools on ebay from Taiwan or Singapore...can't remember which one.

These are the ones I bought my wife the set below a couple of years ago from Arizona Aquatic Gardens (though I seem to recall them being much cheaper then!). Here's the link of stuff they carry, maybe someone can source them locally?

Good Luck!

Yeah, it is really hard to find good supplies.

I bought a pair of 4 inch stainless steel sewing scissors at walmart for $4 and they are nice and versatile.  But I have scoured every drugstore looking for some tweezers and can't find anything appropriate.  So far the best thing I've seen are the 8-10" forceps at the Queensway Carleton.  Maybe there is a medical supply store around?

That toolkit Mike showed in his post looks awesome.  Only drawback is that the total cost will probably be around $150 with the shipping.

I'm pretty sure I had them ship it USPS to cut down on shipping (+ the dollar was higher then).  :)

Maybe one of our sponsors could track them down (Ray mentioned he was thinking about getting into plants).  Or maybe some kind soul could organize a group buy?

I found a pair of 8" forceps at Canadian Tire, ironically in the fishing section.  $6 but unfortunately not listed on their website.  Should come in handy.

Nice, I'm going to check Canadian Tire on my way home!  ^_^

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I found the exact same awesome toolkit rkmike refers to above on ebay for $29.95 + tax plus $11 shipping.
The dollar is almost .97 cents American right now so I think that deal is worth dusting off this old thread.
