Algae infestation

For several weeks I was unable to keep a close eye on the 90g planted because of health issues. I'm back on my feet and the look of the tank was awfull. I think every type of algae known to man has taken up residence. The worst was my mat of Windelov, all I can see is a black fuzzy cloud. The Blyxa looks like green cotton candy and the sags and vals look like they're ready for a festival, long streamers of algae blowing in the current. The pogos...I think they're still there, hard to tell because of the algae bloom in the area where they were.

All livestock look healthy especially the angels, they discovered cherry shrimp make a nice snack and have cleaned out the RCS population.

The lights remained on the timers along with the CO2 but no ferts were dosed, my daughter did the feeding.

Looks like I have my weekend planned. Clean-up, siphon, w/c's and blackout. Oh well, part of the joy of keeping aquariums.

Oh dear sorry to hear you have been under the weather.

Just remember it took several weeks to have your tank go sideways so it'll take a
little time to get it back balanced.
Funny how the fish don't mind an overgrown tank and I find usually end up breeding
in conditions that we feel look terrible .

Hi Hank , sorry to hear of your health issues & your tank woes, here is hoping they both improve rapidly.
It would appear you have a good plan of attack for the algae issues.

Once again I was unable to properly care for the tank. The plants were totally overgrown, BUT..with the bloom of growth, the algae problem disapeared!!
