Is my Solenoid busted?

I just started running CO2 system with GLA regulator and have it hooked up to SMS 122 PH controller.  It was working great for several weeks.

If I plug solenoid into power red light comes on which means it's open.  I have come home to find CO2 still bubbling into the tank even with the solenoid unplugged??   bubble counter is still going strong.

I am wondering if the solenoid is failing open and not shutting off when power is removed.

Does anyone have any experience with a dead or failed solenoid

From your description, it sure sounds like the solenoid is stuck open, most solenoids will make a clicking sound when energised.
If i remember correctly the GLA stuff is warrentied for 2 yrs, you should get in contact with them.

I'm sure its busted now.  If I get shipped a new one is it hard to replace?  What type of seal do I need
is there a tape I need to seal it?

It`s not hard to change, adjustable wrench & small vise or 2 wrenches, for thread sealant you can get a small tube of Oatey Great White Pipe Joint Compound with PTFE from Home Depot.
The picture illustration ( although not identical ) will give you some idea

I can also assist you if you need help.

I emailed Orlando at GLA and he said to clean out the plunger.  I took apart the Solenoid and used rubbing alhcol to clean all the parts and now it works again.

He said new CO2 tanks can have debris in them that get's into the solenoid and jams it.  My tank was new and only started using it a month ago.

It is covered by 2 year warranty as well.

Thanks
